M272 ECM/ECU and 722.9 TCU/ECU Replacement
Hi All,
Sorry to ask this if it has already been asked (I tried looking but couldn't find anything).
I have a 2006 W211 E350 with a M272 engine and a 722.9 gearbox.
My ECU/ECM had been replaced at around 90,000 miles in 2014 or so.
My car has now done 135,000 miles.
Are Mercedes installing new units that wont fail again or shall I budget to have a new/refurbish ECU installed soonish?
Similarly, I had the transmission control unit changed around the same time and would that be worth changing soon?
Honestly, I love this car and I have been catching repairs before they are required (had the intake manifold changed last year before it was due). Just trying to keep this car running as long as I can .
Thanks in advance.

So, everything at the moment works as they should, there's no codes pointing to a failing control unit?
I don't see no point of replacing them "just to be sure". They might last next 50 tml, or even 100 tml.

Thank you for getting back to me.
There are zero faults at the moment.
I do try to prepare for these things, it helps me save money and time, so if I know that these units are due to fail again, I can prepare.

Hi dvenneman,
Sorry for the late reply. Partied too hard on Friday night and just realised it was a Sunday.
This is great to know.
Truth be told, we don't really get rid of our cars and the E350 I have I am still madly in love with (cant believe it took me 10 years to buy a 6230 to put in its cradle).
Thank you all for your input. This honestly makes me feel much better.
