E class w211 front ride height
Hi there,
I have some questions regarding front ride height of w211 e classes.
So I have e220 cdi with classic trim and when you look at the ride heigth, the gap is the same as in the rear.
My firend has e280 cdi, but his front ride height is noticeably higher.
Both cars are classics, only his has factory undershield.
Now some classics are higher some are lower, mine was in our family from new and we didn't change to lower springs.
My question is, how do ride heigts go with trims classic, elegance, avantgarde, or is it the thing for something else?

Post a picture. The default for replacement struts like Bilstein is to be on the highest rung, but it's normally at the lower 2nd or 3rd position, normally you remove the old strut and match up the height before putting in new ones. Several threads out there for cars that are too high in the front because they forgot to match the old ride height.

Why are there so many settings for height?

Yes, those are "Fuchs Toliman" forged alloys. They're about 13 lb. Much lighter than pretty much every other wheel you could put on there. They made 3 versions for the 211, 220 and 208 clk. In the US they only put it on the clk. I would love to get a set of the 211 version but they never offered it in the US. If you decide to sell them VW T3 Vanagon people are obsessed with them. They'll pay stupid money for those wheels.
Do you happen to know about that ride height, so the springs are adjustable.
But which trim came with what height, was the classic the highest, and the avantgarde the lowest?
Why are there so many height settings?

Sorry I don't know about the trims. Mercedes used different trim names in different markets and some countries were setup really high if they had **** roads. Oftentimes mechanics replacing the front shocks will unknowingly install them at the max height setting which is always hilarious.

Height question
It’s a 04 e320 4matic height in front is quite a bit higher in front compared to rear. It’s been like this since I got it about 3 1/2 years ago. So I’d just have to lower that clip to adjust it? It does have air but I thought that was rear only?
mine looks like tjts1 post, same rims and all.

Do you have the wagon? That had air on the rear only with regular coil springs in the front. In order to lower that clip, you'd have to take the springs out to get at the clips. Basically just doing the struts all over again as you can't move the clip without taking the springs off.

Not necessarily. Airmatic was an option on the 320 wagon. From what I've seen on the used market it's about 50/50 rear self leveling VS airmatic in the V6 wagons. The really oddball option was the E320 sport package sport bumpers and E500 4pot brakes. They usually had airmatic as well.

Does your car have airmatic ride height button on the shifter console? If not then you have front coil springs. Most new aftermarket shocks have the ring installed on the top slot out of the box with an instruction manual included on how to adjust it. This is how you find out if your mechanic read the instructions.
