Battery in the back kind of wet, car tries to start and dies

If it were my car, I would start by scanning the car for error code, and know them ahead of time. Then, start emptying the trunk and carefully check if there is any water around, find the entry point and fix it.
Check there is no moisture on either of the fuse areas. There is one in the left area of the trunk, and in some models one near the battery (pre-fuse box).
Also, if you car got water through the windows on either of the driver or passenger side, be certain there is no water below the carpets and ALL the modules under the carpet are DRY. Any moisture in them will certainly give all kind of surprises--> MB water gremlins. MB do not like water inside ANYWHERE. You may have a damaged module already
Once all the above is done, be certain your battery is up to the task as it has strongly been stated above, either a new one or yours verified is properly charged. Then, approach the error codes you got.
Anything else, and you will be on the road again for a short lived moment.
