Best tires for E550

Hi all,

Thanks in advance for any input received. Looking to get new tires on my e550 RWD. I have been trying to find the MO original tires these car came with and have been unsuccessful. I'm usually one that thinks what they come with from the factory is usually the best, but im definitely open to any and all opinions. When I try to look up the MO tires they all come up with the size 245/45R18. Currently my car has 245/40R18. Is this a concern? Thoughts?

As far as the type of tire. I'm not tracking the car so not really interested in sport tires. Definitely more interested in a smooth ride, comfort and quietness. I currently have Nexen's on there (What it had when I bought the car) the tread is great and the ride is TERRIBLE above 80mph. Would love to hear recommendations/experiences.

Not retreads or used!! Most will go with the michelins or conti ( Continental). Michelin A/S 3+ or Continental DWS06.

They're up to Michelin A/S 4. I would also skip the MO tires. They're usually some special expensive compound that gives you lower rolling resistance for better gas mileage. But at the expense of traction. Regular aftermarket tires won't be as low resistance but probably better traction and will also be cheaper because no one really buys MO tires so they're a lot more money over regular tires. I'd just get a set over at Costco. Usually the RWD had different size tires for the front and rear although you could just go 245/40/18 all around. Different sizes meant that the rears wore out in half the mileage as you couldn't rotate them.

Thanks for the correction on the A/S.
