They need to be changed. Although, I am not 100% sure exactly what is worn. But I think, since the front is "open," replace it all.
The prices are reasonable. I could purchase the entire Bilstein kit for a very reasonable price.
As you all know, there are a bunch of places to purchase the parts. (Only Mercedes or Bilstein, I think...)
But finding someone to do the work, is a different story. I live in Northern NJ. Does anyone know someone that has done this work before?
I have other cars, so I am NOT in a rush. In fact, I just purchased the car, all full knowing it needed the timing chain repaired.
Certainly appreciate your help in this matter!

He can't do the work on the car, but he can give me the codes. I might go tomorrow...
I'm not trying to deny that your engine needs a new timing chain. Timing chain stretch is a known problem on these engines. But having your own scan tool in hand will help you narrow down problems a lot faster.
Here's a video on doing the timing chain on this engine with minimal disassemble.

I understand. A diagnostic scanner would be good to have, but my feeling is that why not do the entire kit? A little more labor, but the engine will already be opened. Plus, the timing chain vs. the kit only saves about $100. I think it makes sense to do the whole ball of wax.

Parts are cheap, labor is going to add up. If this was a DIY project I would say go for it. Just make sure you get a solid labor cost estimate before you plunge into it.

P2045 / P2255 These he erased. But he aid they might return
P2623 / P2624 These are Hard Codes. Not erasable.
Not sure what this tells you, if anything. But I promised I would get the Codes.

But I just want to fix this once & for all. Do you know anyone that could service my car in Northern NJ.
