K & N Air Filter.

I asked this in the E55 forum and didn't get a response..

I noticed in another thread that someone said you get about 30HP increase using one of these in an E55.

Does using an air filter "really" give you more power.. I am sure someone in this forum has tested this.

Has anyone here added one, did they notice any improvement?

the e55 is supercharged so if there is a restriction in there stock air box they will gain lots more power than our n/a cars. from previoud dynos my dakota rt 00 made and xtra 5rwhp& 2rwtq across the entire board with a k&n fipk cold air kit. i think max power was up 6rwhp some where but max is not what your looking for u want power across the whole rpm range. my 01 zo6 with a varam did not show any improvment on a dyno but went .2 faster in the 1/4 and picked up 3mph trap with close to same conditions at the track. i think the filters are worth it becuase u can clean them and reuse ends up saying $$$$ in the long run just dont expect to notice a huge gain hope this helps

I stayed away from the K&Ns when I had my 2.7T because of various reports that the oils in the filter tended to foul the MAF.
