I have a problem with my automatic tailgate, on my 2004 320 CDI wagon.

It does not open when I activate the release button inside the car, or via the remote control. The tailgate opens approx. 1 cm on the left side, but on the right side it remains closed.

I can hear an "engine" working, but....

I can open, release the tailgate manually, and then the tailgate open automatically, also closes automatically when I press the button on the tailgate itself.

I've replaced both dampers, but that hasn't fixed the problem.

So what should I check?
