Skipping 2nd
I was wondering if anybody had this problem... I own a 04 e320... and when I use the manual shifting... It goes from 1st to 3rd at high rpms and skips 2nd but it doesnt skip any other gears at high rpms... for ex. 2nd to 4th skipping 3rd... only 2nd... I showed this to the dealer and drove with the tech. to demonstrate this problem and he did not know anything about it... It was more like well if it works than there is nothing wrong with it... does anybody else have the same problem...

These are supposed to be intelligent gearboxes and if you are 'flooring' it or accelerating hard in first, then it might decide that 3rd gear would be the next most appropriate gear?

I thought the same situation too when I would race some people off the line. But it is not skipping second on its own. Manual mode will still shift gears by itself. So you are changing gears the same time that it is changing gears and it seems to skip second. But in reality you are skipping second. Try it out again and dont shift, it will shift for you. I am not a big fan of that cause basically we dont have a manual mode. Guess its a safety function.
