VRP header studs backing off

Hello,

I have a 2005 E55 AMG. I purchased a set of VRP long tube headers. I had a shop install the headers onto my car. I noticed that the headers had loose and missing studs. I took it back to the shop and they are claiming that the headers are missing the studs because the VRP headers are thicker than the OEM manifolds. Because they are thicker they are not able to get as much of the threads on the headers and that is why the studs backed off. I contacted VRP and they said to use the OEM studs. I was wondering if anyone else ran into a similar issue. Thanks!

Are you using an aftermarket gasket or the thin metal oem ones?

My Chinese headers came with a thick gasket but I bought new oem ones and used it with the original studs and it worked fine.

Using the aftermarket gasket that came with the kit.

I think that's your problem. Get new oem gaskets and use those.
