Urgent - removing orange reflectors

Guys

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to remove the orange reflectors off the car (so I can get them painted)? My body shop told me they couldn't just pry them and snap the clips and that they need to either take the bumper out (don't want that) or tape and paint over them (I can see issues with that)...

Thanks,
Sergiu

Also, as an alternative, where can I get the Euro Impact Strips and for how much? I tried the search function but nothing relevant came up...

Thanks again,
Sergiu

get a small rubber chissle type tool, pry it out. or you can pry out the entire bumper strip, and then see how its really attached. i can check when i get home cause i have mine removed and euro impact strips installed- go for those! look so much better than painted reflector.

oooh, I see (hence the name "strips" - duh). Anyway, ignore the idiot. So what did you do with the light housing underneath - left it there with a bulb (so the warning lights don't come on if you remove them)?

The lights are still in there.. gotta figure a way to take them out or remount them so you cant see it shine thru at night (barely). If you take them out I think you get an error message on the dash. High temp tape might work.. or some sort of resistor. duno.

You could probably paint the bulbs black (high heat temp, make sure you put a few coats) so you can't see them through

What's the point?

Is it supposed to look better sans reflectors? Who would even notice? Why not just remove some other random part that's easier to unbolt in order to satisfy punk tendencies?

Easy buddy, its worth the money. I've got em on my E55 and pictures don't do them justice. My dad's got an E55 too and the second I pulled into his driveway he looked at my bumper and said, "Whatd you do to your bumper? Something looks different. Something looks GOOD" Go for the Euro Strips, its a good investment!

I didn't personally install my impact strips, but I am positive that the lights were removed. I think the body shop capped the wires with those yellow plastic caps. You can pick em up at any hardware store. I've never gotten an error message, so you can give that a shot.
