ACoff button confusing functions in 2005 e240
I own a 2005 e240 and for as long as I had it (a few years) the function of the "ACoff" has been a mystery even after arguing with a mechanic about it. From personal use, all I know is that if I have it on, cold air stops blowing and instead it just blows normal temperature air from the vents. My father and mechanic both say however that it must be on for the AC to blow cold air, and not having it on could damage the compressor.
anyone here know what it actually does? I've read the manual and it's quite confusing
Because for them, a light/button that is lit means that something is ON. Funny that they have no issues understanding an "ESP off" or "Park assist off" light 🙂
It would probably help if it read "...off" . If they still don't believe you, take a picture of the A/C page in your manual to show them 😁
In the past I had a '96 W210, and the button (with similar effect) was labelled "EC" (meaning "eco mode" I reckon).
Whenever my wife was using the car (in the summertime), she would always "activate" the button, to light it up, and complain AC was not working when she came home. 😅
