Why turn ESP off?

Why turn ESP off?

Sorry for my ignorance. few threads here especially people with AMG machine prefer to put ESP off and do the race? Why is it?

The theory is that ESP, by intervening to protect the "typical" driver from his own dumb moves, also prevents the skilled driver from hanging out the tail and otherwise using techniques that maximize speed on a road course or winding road.

ESP incorporates both stability control (twisties) and traction control (straight line).

ESP inhibits "too rapid an acceleration" and virtually eliminates "chirping the tires". People who like to drive "agressively" find the ride more thrilling when the computer doesn't cramp your style.

There are two parts to ESP. Turning it off on the dash only stops ESP from controlling the throttle. The other part is the anti-skid part and that's still active unless you use a hidden menu to turn it all off.

I see no harm in turning it off on the dash if you want more control over things.
