Nav retrofit

Can the Nav functionality be retrofitted by a dealer to a 2004 E class that already has the Command interface -- screen, etc? Seems like it must be a plug-in module with the Nav drive, etc?

Thanks for your help.

Yes. According to the dealer. Before I picked up my new one, there was a used one there and the dealer told me that they can fit the NAV there, as long as the command there.

Thanks!

Nothing MB related (sorry)
Depending on what options your car came with from factory, you may need to replace your current trunkliner.

Really need to be careful here. There are 3 types of trunkliner.

If the car has no navi from factory, chances are you have the one with dip in it, therefore the navi will not fit.

However, there are two liners that will allow navi. But there is a difference between the two.

On my E500 without navi i had to order a new trunkliner. But I ordered the one without a door on the liner that allows access to the nav drive. You don't want this one either. Because to insert new nav DVD you have to take out the liner every time.

On my E55 with factory navi. The trunkliner has a small door that allows driver to open it and access the navi drive unit. This is the one that needed to be ordered.

I will post pictures of the two tonight.

Steve says that if you have Parktronic or Keyless Go, you will have the bracket and proper trunkliner on a 2004+ car. I don't remember if the active seat option also is fitted with the proper trunk liner.
