Confused about engine oil level

My dash display says I have 7.2 quarts of oil and it says the oil level is OK. When I measure with a dipstick, I am at 110 (not sure what the unit of measurement is). My research shows that the full level for my engine is 120 (2006 E500 4Matic Wagon). So, it would seem that I'm about a quart low, even though the dash display says the level is OK. All measurements were done with the engine cold.

Don't want to overfill....should I add a quart to get the level to 120/8.2 quarts?

Thanks for any insight.

EDIT: Engine number is 11396930692826

My recommdation would be simply drain. Pull out your manual towards to back of the book, and get the level for ltrs or quarts( depending where you reside). My 05 wagon takes 8 1/2 just my opinion. GL

The dipstick will essentially show you 3 levels - Full, within an acceptable range, and below and acceptable level. Thats a good way to inyterpret it and one would think that the ECU would do the same.
