COMAND unit issues
Today, curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to play around with the various different startup screens you can toggle on the COMAND unit in my 2005 E320 (when you hit SERV and the 5-3-7 for a few seconds) and I decided to set it to the “W240_USA” setting. Unfortunately, this backfired on me, and upon starting the car after a minute or so, the screen showed no picture, but the radio and other functions were fine, just no picture. I tried blindly navigating my way back to the original menu, but assuming this does not work, what can be done to address this (other than having to replace the entire unit?)

I guess it got confused when the rear display screens, the air freshener, and the beverage cooler didn’t respond.
Seriously, though, there are settings in there that will cause just about everything in the car to fail.
Does SERV+MUTE+END show anything? If not, does the SERV+3+5+7 show the variant menu again? If it does, then select the correct one for your car. If still no, call the dealer like Plutoe said and if you can find a customer experience advisor old enough to have been in sales in 2006, they’ll probably get it reset gratis.
