Electric trunk retrofit issues
I've retrofitted the electric trunk closing on my car and it has had an issue ever since I've installed it. Let me first start by saying that all the parts were purchased second hand, apart from the wiring harness. Sometimes when the button to close is pressed, it would start closing and then open as it's passing the halfway closed point. Sometimes a second press would make it close. If that doesn't work, lightly assisting it as it is going down makes it close properly. It seems to happen most often when the trunk hasn't been operated for some time or early on cold mornings. What position should the trunk springs be in? I know I brought at least one closer to the car to make it easier on the motor. Could it be that the clutch in the motor itself is worn? The potentiometer has good, smooth, consistent readings when looked at with Xentry. There are no codes present.
Rarely, it would adjust the lower latch but never start moving down. The second time the closing button is pressed, it would start going down without the latch moving and close properly.
Thanks in advance.

I want to say they are in the 3rd hole but I can check this weekend.
