Braking Issue

Hi guys, I don't think the brake pads are fully making contact with the rotors because the outer part still looks rusted and unclean. My brakes are relatively new, it's been about 8-9K miles since they were changed. I checked for any leaks, but didn't find any. Can you help me with this? Thanks.

That looks like they need to bed in further, which is normal. But if you drove 8-9k miles, then it's something else. I suspect that the brake caliper doesnt work as it needs to. If it has sliding pins (floating caliper), then it needs to be able to move freely.

The brakes were working fine, and the car sat for a couple of months, and I had this issue. I was also thinking cleaning sliding pins, caliper, and bleeding the brake might work.

Bleeding is probably not needed. Start with the sliding pins and take it from there.

you do know the pins take Caliper grease, not just any grease…make sure the pin boots aren’t cracked and leaking water. I always replace the rotors with new pads, check FCP for the best price, I like ceramic pads the best. Akebono

And when installing new pads, clean the stainless rails, and make sure the pads move freely on those rails, if not file off any binding spots on the pads.
