SAM or GEM module?
I have a 2006 E320 CDI and driver side blinker and low beam is out. Bulbs are ok and have continuity. I am getting power to plug when turned on. Headlight unit is new (3months old). I think it is the SAM module and ordered a used one from a 2006 E-series. I have called around as few Indy shops and asked if they could reprogram unit. I called 4 shops and they either said no, they are all plug in play and no reprogramming required, no idea what that unit is and last one called it GEM module.
so… my question is this; do I need to go to dealer or is this something I can do myself? I read post where they all say it needs to be reprogrammed to my options. Since I have the cdi snd the SAM I got came from gas car I hope it will work and does not have any issues.

Never heard of GEM-module. My experience with a used drivers-SAM is that only issue was the non-functioning front left led-parking light, that needed coding. Didn't need help from the dealer, anyone who has Star and knows how to use it, can do the coding.

you can do it your self by switch all the fuses and relays from old to new one . No program is required.
I think the CDI SAM is slightly different than the gasoline model. Make sure the part number is the same

yep BS talks and HS walks------if a SAM------ the used one better be applicable to your car or then you just wasted your money---but to reprogram a control module you need MB XDOS or equal
PS Dont go anywhere near the four schleps you contacted who indicated plug and play
