What's the build date on your car. MBUSA are probably spreading out the recall notices to avoid overloading service departments.

Unless you have an early W211 (which get new brake fluid), all that happens is that they program in a counter of brake applications so that after 100K applications they can alert you to take your car to a dealer to have the brake system inspected for wear. Unless you use your car as a taxi or keep it a long time, you will never see the message.

MBUSA is probably staggering so dealers are not overwhelmed. As suggested before here on the forum it’s not that serious that one cannot wait until notified. However, if for some reason you want to get it done as soon as possible I can forward a copy of the notification letter. This should work fine in getting you scheduled – it did for me.

I received a recall notice and my build date is 3/04. All they will do with your car is put a sticker on your brake controller and reprogram the car to count brake applications. I suppose you don't even need a recall notice because dealers know what Vin numbers are effected and what to do per Vin number.

I am in no hurry to waste a day and to drive an hour each way through heavy traffic to get this recall done. I'll have it done when I have a reason to go to the dealer. So far it looks like that might be a long time given how infrequently MBUSA gives out free oil changes.

Thanks to Konigstiger, here are the effected Vin Numbers...
