Transmission still slipping into neutral...
For the fourth time i was driving at about 40mph, i accelerated to get to the exit ramp and my car had no power, just revved...it was very scary....to say the least..if a truck was coming, i might not be writting this ...
I brought it to the dealer and i am insisting that the regional rep looks at it to replace the entire unit, i wanted it documented in case something happens as a result of this failure, in case an accident results from it..
When it occurs, i have to put it in neutral and then shift to D several times....
im sure its electronics because the Gear selector indicates D....it is very frightening...
On a different note, my auto touch sunroof is not working properly and there is an annoying squeak coming from the firewall...between the dash and the engine over bumps, the last time they fixed it they said it was the radiatior seat flap and they used velcro...we shall see what it is now...

SMART to document! I actually have a 3 inch binder with all associated paperwork starting with the purchase agreement. In this case (transmission), I’m sure the MBUSA SPOM will do the right, however if not PM (private message) me.

Michael10128,
I had the same transmission problem. Dealer fixed it. Never occurred again.
Here's what the invoice said:
Cause: Replace transmission valve body as per TAC. Case #35461
Various parts: 274982 Valve Body R&R
Valve gear, Gasket-Trans, Seal Ring, Lock Pin, Trans Fluid, Trans Oil Fi(lter?)
Total labor hours 3.5
Hope this helps.

There were a number of threads dealing with this problem on the '03 transmission in late '03 and early '04.
Try searching and I am sure you will find a lot of information and maybe get an idea of what was done (or not done).
Good luck.

Well, the dealer called and agreed they found out what was wrong, i will provide the information when i get the car back..it only took them three times to realize it..
Its amazing what happens when you use words like "documentation" with the dealer, they begin to read between the lines...
Thanks for all you replies, i will give you an update when its done.
