2004 E500 Starts fine Won’t drive

Hey everyone, I have a 2004 E500 178k miles that has recently developed a transmission slip and won’t go into any gear. Starts up and runs fine just won’t drive. It happened a couple nights ago I went from one stop light to another and once my light turned green to go the car wouldn’t move. There was no noise or indication that anything was broken. I got a code for a transmission slip but the fact it won’t move even a little confused me. (the car is for sale and i did have someone come and take a look and mess with the manual modes for a while i’m not sure if that would effect anything though) Anyone know what the issue could be?

Can you hear the gear selector module (under the car) move when you change gears with the selector?

Start troubleshooting with the basics. Is your windshield fluid topped off with OEM fluid?

Let's check level of transmission fluid. Also can use a fluid extractor to suck out an ounce and inspect for debris.

Use a scan tool to get trans codes.

If all else fails, buy new car. I'd recommend a civic. Easy maintenance and repairs.

Connect STAR/Xentry, run a quick test, and the system will tell you what is wrong. Stop guessing. If it ain't moving, you have a major failure as s the 722.6 is designed to "fail gracefully".
