'08 E350 4MATIC, drain and fill trans, no movement

Hi All, running into something that has me stumped. I've done the drain and fill on this car before. The dipstick that is in it is wrong, so I have used the "measure what drains out and then put that back plus half a quart more" method and then checked the trans temp with an OBC tester, open the plug and let it run out until it trickles. Trans was working fine, just something that I like to do every 40K miles or so. Magnet had a thin coat of fines on it.

Drained, measured right at 4 qts drained, added close to 4.5, fired it back up, cycled through the gears and....nothing. No motive power. The throttle is acting weird, put into R or D and step on the gas and the engine won't rev unless you really push down on it.

I had my son helping me and installed the push in trans filter. He didn't get it in far enough at first, so I seated it. I verified the old filter had the flat O ring still on it. The filter was just whatever house brand from O'Reilly but it looked identical to what I took out, didn't check the brand but probably a repackaged unit.

I can hear the clicking when running through the gears so I don't think I knocked any linkage or wires loose.

I added another 1.5 quarts, still nothing.

Any ideas on what's going on here, what am I missing?

I'll take a stab at some thoughts. This is a 722.6 (5-speed) trans? Car is a 211.087?

Did you make sure all the electronic connctions for the transmission was plugged in properly? I've been watching some transmission service videos and some dudes in the comment section experienced similar problems and some replied it's the plugs near the transmission weren't plugged back in properly. I'd go ahead and check that first! Hope it helps!
