WSS weight sensing system - no communication
Anyone have any experience repairing a problem with the WSS (weight sensing system) being unavailable to the diagnostics machine?
The main problem is that my SRS light is on. But within the SRS diagnosis I can see WSS is unresponsive. As a separate module outside of the airbag diagnosis, if you go into it there is a problem communicating with the unit.
I'm assuming from the lack of coms there is some kind of power failure or module failure and that is the reason it's not communicating with the diagnostics system.
Anyone seen this before.
Just for fun, here are all the SRS codes I've got:
Code Description
9102 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/1 3 (driver airbag ignition squib 1) is too low
9122 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/1 4 (driver airbag ignition squib 2) is too low
9142 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/4 (Front passenger airbag ignition squib 1) is too low
9162 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/5 (Front passenger airbag ignition squib 2) is too low
9222 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/9 (drivers-side airbag ignition squib) is too low
9242 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/1 0 (Front passenger side airbag ignition squib) is too low
9262 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/1 1 (Left rear side airbag ignition squib) is too low
9282 The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R1 2/1 2 (Right rear side airbag ignition squib) is too low
9083 A component of control unit WSS may possibly be defective or not calibrated. For further information read out the DTC memory of the control unit WSS
907C Fault in CAN communication with control unit WSS
907D Fault in CAN communication with control unit WSS
90A4 Control module N2/7 (Restraint systems control unit) is incorrectly coded or component B48 (Front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition) is wrong
9081 The coding of control unit N2/7 (Restraint systems control unit) does not correspond with the actual installation varient of control unit WSS and/or its components
907E Fault in CAN communication with control unit WSS
028 The coding for component B48 (front passenger seat occupied and child seat recognition) is faulty. If fault occurs with no fault reported and no malfunctions erase fault memory and perform a function check
Alternately if anybody recognises that failure mode I'd appreciate any advice anybody has.
It already has a brand new SRS unit from the Mercedes dealer.
These are the instructions I followed:
"Well, I made it once on W211. must be applied for W209 but instead of CGW it will Be EIS.
Here we go:
1-AB: Disable WSS it in developer mode ( In my case I set everything about WSS to Nien )
2-System Diagnosis: Set WSS to NOT fitted from control Unit adaptation
3-CGW: disable Telecommunication from control unit adaptation
4-IC: Disable WSS in Developer mode ( set to Nien )
With all mentioned above, DONT forget to unplug the connector from WSS which is in the FRT passenger seat

Best regards."
From this website: 209 - Disable WSS? - MHH AUTO - Page 2
So I've gone from 15 codes down to 8. I may start another thread for the remaining codes as they're of a different nature.
