Fuel Pump Failure?
Recently had an issue with my 2004 E320 4MATIC sedan. Parked the car overnight and went to start it in the morning, car BARELY started and was putting. Tried to give it gas and nothing, car was barely idling and eventually died. Did this a couple times until it wouldn't start anymore. Now it just cranks and cranks (Crank-No-Start).
My initial suspicion was the fuel pump, as I cannot hear it prime at all. Put my ear to the gas tank with the cap off and also took apart the back seat and put my ear physically on the pump itself, cannot hear anything. Car sounds dry AF when it's cranking as well. I checked both the fuse and relay which both are good/functioning. When hooking up my gauge to check for pressure I'm receiving 0, both cycling the key and cranking.
I guess my question is, before I go spend $350 on an assembly (fuel pump, sending unit/filter), is there anything else I could check to single this out? As far as CEL codes, I'm receiving P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire).
Any suggestions / opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
So this is the line I took off. Nothing at all coming out, not a drop. Besides a dribble when I first disconnected it, but nothing from cranking. I'm assuming this kind of sums it up?
It did end up being a bad fuel pump. Installed the pump / sending unit, cranked it 2 - 3 times and BAM! It's a miracle, thank you to all whom took the time and gave your opinions on this matter, it's well appreciated.
Happy wrenching
