Unable to locate coolant temp sensor

08 E350 W211 coolant temp I can’t find it. I thought it was in the front under the secondary air pump. Is there another location?

Did your car sit unused for a lengthy period of time?

I had a similar condition to yours, and the cause was a rodent nest located between the A/C condenser and the radiator - eliminating airflow through the radiator.

It should be easy enough to check this.

When I rebuilt my Engine back in 2017-18, I had bought the (2) required sensors, the one located at the front upper engine, but I couldn't find the second location and the WIS only refers to the sensor number without and image and the EPC shows a blow-up image of what appears to be a sensor with 2 ambiguous arrows pointing haphazardly? When I removed my Power Steering Pump, I was surprised to find another the 2nd Sensor located directly behind it! At first, I wasn’t sure what it was and just decided to renew whatever it was for preventative reasons, but once I realized that it looked familiar, I went to my new parts bin and sure enough, I had it! It was a good thing too because that location is obviously very hot inevitably causing the part to become brittle and when removing, the top of the sensor busted apart. Moreover, the Harness Connected was also very brittle and the Plastic Locking Tab had busted (I wasn’t as careful due to its awkward location!), so I had to MacGuyver a fix for that!
