W211 and R230 systems

Gentlemen, I got a couple of questions and appreciate someone enlightening me.
1.-Is the W211 single battery or dual battery?
2.-What is the function of the Battery Control Module?

Thanks!

Model years 2003 through 2006, one 900 CCA main battery plus a 200 CCA auxiliary battery intended to provide emergency backup power in event of alternator or main battery failure.

Dual battery along with BCM was dropped with the facelift. My 06/2006 does not have them.

Thank you gentlemen for sharing the info. I own a SL-500 with a burned BCM and as you may not know, these BCM's are being sold Used with a price of Gold.
The issue with used BCM's is that they are like a ticking bomb..! May burn at anytime ..>! So, I am considering using a W211 or W221 system and would need all the info I could use to determine feasibility. I wonder if any of you have a schematic like the one shown in the attached for the N82-1 component!

Kindly,

El Macko.
