W211 purchase wants to be "COMAND READY"

My friend is buying a Euro spec W211 E240 for AU. They want to buy the car without COMAND and have it installed later.

So which options do I need in the car to make the car as compatible as possible for a future COMAND retrofit ?

HK ? Phone ? PTS ?

I'm sure it can be done, but have him do himself a favor & order it from the factory!

It take it that you will offer to pay the difference ! I really dont see how the Euro COMAND will be more than the price charged in AU.

Perhaps you are taking into consideration non-AU prices which are about 1/2 of what is payed.

I don't believe one can separately order the "prewiring for Audio 50", which would certainly help a lot... in absence of that, make sure the speakers are ordered (free) and the antenna (around 100 euro).

Beware that adding COMAND to a car not ordered with the prewiring for Audio 50 will require adding an audio gateway and a bit of wiring to the car... depending on the cost of COMAND in Oz (around 3000 euro in Germany), it might be wise to compare cost of parts and labor time...

Oh yeah, keyless go, orthopedic seats or parktronic (I think) will ensure the proper brackets and trunk panels, but the cost of getting proper trunk liner and brackets (under 200 euro) isn't really that big of a deal!

I believe you can't get H/K sound without an Audio 50 or COMAND... Parktronic might give you the proper trunk liners though!
