E500 Digital Climate Control Question
I had a quick question for anyone with an E500. As I live in Southern California, the weather can change from day to day, from warm to very cold, especially in the fall. Sometimes I like the A/C on and other times the heater, but changing the digital temp from low to high (or even 65 to 85) requires holding down the button and watching the numbers slowly (very slowly) tick up (and they don't even speed up if you hold the button down) or trying to rapidly hit the arrow button while trying to drive. 1
Even in my old 1998 E320 you could press both the up and down arrows simultaneously and it would go to 72 degrees instantly. I would prefer a dial that changed the temp rapidly when you spin it rapidly.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to instantly change the temp to high or low without holding the arrow button up or down and watching the numbers slowly change?
I know some of you will just say leave it on 72, but sometimes when you've been out in the cold (or heat) you want to be warmer or colder than 72.
Thanks,
Randy

Why not set it to 70 FULL AUTO and let it do the work for you. Afterall that's why its called an automatic climate control. I only change the temp a few degrees either way. It does very well at keeping the desired temp inside the car. My advice is don't treat it like a manual A/C unit because its not.
Why would anybody need to rapidly change the temp setting? It doesn't matter if it is -20 or 120 degrees outside. 72 degrees (or thereabout) is by way of heat if it's cold outside or by way of AC if it is hot outside, it is comfortable year-round. That is why it is called AUTO Climate Control.
Never had a problem leaving the control on Auto 72. My wife wants to jack the system up and down manually and is never satisfied with the result. I convinced her to leave the Auto on and let the computer do the work. She's now a happy driver!
