While most here are aware of the soon to arrive 6 cylinder motor in the E350, I've started to hear rumblings about possible new 8 cylinder motors as well. I am still debating the whole E350vs. E500 matter and feel new/better 8 cylinder motors would definitely be an important factor.

supposedly two new V8's for the ML line up, which I'm sure will make it into the other models:
4.4L V8 making 325HP I believe
5.5L V8 making 410HP I believe
Dubbed ML440 and ML550.

Yea! the E400 CDI is a real monster!! It should be E500 performance with E320 economy! If it only came over to OUR fine shores too! And if either CDI were mated to a 4-Matic system then I would but it on the spot!!Originally Posted by glojo

I spoke to the sales manager at my dealership (Glauser Mercedes) and asked if there was some sort of list for a 4-matic CDI V6 or V8. He said that the V6 is coming, but he really doubts it will come to the US in a 4-Matic
.I love the CDIs, but once you drive a 4 -matic in the snow you would only go back to a RWD if you were crazy. Or if I moved back to Florida (this would mean I am crazy also).
I could get a 500 4-matic, but I am a cheap SOB and I refuse to get a car that can't average over 20 MPG from mile zero to the present setting. I can afford it, but it is a matter of principle to me. That is why a 400 CDI sounds very interesting.
