Are e350 and e550 722.6 interchangeable?

Hey guys, I've got an 09 e550 4m that likely has a bad trans (I'll fully diagnose later but it's puking fluid after a loud bang followed by a whole lot of noise and no movement)

Are the e350 4m 722.6 compatible. I've got a line on one from an 08.

Having a hard time finding a definitive answer.

Also, am I correct that the 722.6 4m trans DOES NOT need to be vin coded. I believe only the 722.9 is Vin coded, correct?

No. Must be an exact six-digit match. Go to MB online parts catalog to identify the transmission variant in your car. You can then search the catalog to see which other models use the same variant and search salvage yards for those models. Alternatively get the number directly off the transmission then use the catalog to identify other models using the same variant.

Damn. Ok thanks.

What about the programming? I thought I had read that the 722.6 variant did not need to be VIN coded.

722.6xx doesn't require VIN coding. If you find the same variant, it is a bolt in process.

Looks like I'll need a 722.677. And the e350 is a 722.676. So thank you for that!!
