Aftermarket Headunit and Amplifier Help
Hello everyone,
I have a 2004 e500 wagon and I'm currently looking to replace the comand headunit with an aftermarket one from crutchfield. After viewing several other forums it seems apparent to me that replacing the factory amplifier is a more reasonable solution compared to dealing with all of the fiber optic decoder stuff, along with making the "secret compartment" functional and other extensive wiring (it just seems unnecessary). I've done my research and I don't want to deal with it, but I don't know how difficult the wiring will have to be for the HK speaker system if I were to use an aftermarket amp. Not looking to change speakers as I'm aware of the reputation of HK, just trying to replace the headunit for apple carplay and the amplifier. My budget is between $400-$500, and I'm not sure what amplifier would work best for the HK system. I'm looking to see if anyone has done something similar to their W211 sound system.
