Has anyone had this the radio static problem resolved in the 2004 with HK radio. Please post your answers.
Thanks, This is the last of many problems.

They replaced my Amplifier and head Unit w/ all the new updated gatweway stuff. That seems to have fixed the problem of the static. I couldnt pick up any FM stations from LA or SD while in OC. But now I can get all the stations.

My friend had the same problem in his CLK500. It sounded as if Hell itself was screaming out of his speakers, when ever he turned on his Car. It was horrible, then it just stopped a day before we went to the service center.

When it happens, try turning off the HVAC. It takes 20-30 seconds but once that system completely shuts down, the noise disappears (at least for me). You can then generally turn the HVAC back on without problem.
I stumbled into this fix one time and it has always corrected the problem without shutting off the car.
It only happens to me once or twice a year. With this quick correction, it is not worth having the dealership rip the car all apart to replace items which may or may not fix the problem.

Under search this forum if you put in gateway software update or gateway flash you will find many threads. I personally had the same problem and the update took care of it.

I live in South OC and get both San Diego and LA stations without static. This has been true with both of my E-500's with HK and an earlier model E-320. SO, don't let them tell you they all have the problem In fact, I'd ask for them to fire up one of their new ones on the lot just like yours and see if it has the problem. I'll bet it doesn't. Let us know the outcome!
