Android head unit bracket requires moving cd changer control panel - 4 pin connectors

I bought a "Joying" Chinese android head unit for my old W211, listed here: https://www.joyingauto.com/joying-9-...-cls-c219.html

I have it working and am going back through to wrap everything up and reinstall it. As you can see on their website, the install bracket includes a cutout for the control panel that was previously in front of the CD changer (that controls ESP, seat heaters, headrests, hazards, etc). It has two 4 pin connectors on the panel itself, which were originally connected to a harness on either side cd of the CD changer bracket that came through the arms. On the backside of the changer, one has an identical 4 pin, but the other side has an 8 or 10 pin connector because it split off and controlled two functions. So I don't have two 4-pins inside the dash to reconnect to either side of the control panel, I only have one. So my question is... are they both necessary? This video, for another ali-express chinese HU implies only one is reconnected :

The Joying documentation is terrible, otherwise I would have asked them.

Arent there split looms for powering (and signal) for the cd changer door and cd changer itself? These looms should be able to be left disconnected as far as I remember, but should be easy enough to test.
Do you have the optical looms running to the amp at the back? If so, what kind of solutions did you use - an optical converter or did you run a new loom and amp to the rear? Also is Canbus working (steering wheel buttons ?). Proably not showing audio information the speedo?

I ended up pulling the wiring looms out of the changer bracket. I kinda had to break it apart , which I was hoping to avoid. I am using a canbus decoder and have tested my steering wheel controls and they can control the volume at least. The instrument cluster display is receiving information, but it's showing mostly gibberish, but I haven't had time to test that really yet. I have a fiber optic decoder box that converts RCA left and right outputs to something the MOST ring can understand. I tested it very briefly just to ensure sound is working. It's the same blue box that is sold by dozens of retailers on Amazon and ali-express. Once I get everything put back together I'll post pictures. It looks like they neglected to send me a GPS antenna and mounting bracket ..
