2008 W211 Front strut fitment problem

So I have a 2008 E350 4matic sport and ordered some Sachs front sport struts for the car only to find my car has non sport sach struts on the front.

I can not compress compress the spring with my my new sport struts, I have 2 shop strut compressors that could not do it with the spring twisting, a midas could not do it either.

I'm assuming a non sport spring wont compress on a sport strut? I have not found any solid results looking for sport springs to really order other than H&R springs. Would ordering HR springs just work with the sport strut? Been a bummer that it turned in to a battle. Any thoughts appreciated.

Other information

Old strut on Front right : Sachs SACHS 317491 (Non sport 4matic)

New Strut for Front right : SACHS 317493 (Sport 4matic)

Spring (unclear guessing number :Bilstein 36 225150 or 36 226150 no solid returns

Strut mounts appear to match SACHS 802364 and SACHS 802365, the dont look flat like standard mounts

sorry to hear your troubles. i do believe the sport struts are a tad shorter so trying to compress the non-sport springs over them will be even harder as you've experienced. i don't think it's impossible but you'll get a slightly lowered height once all is installed.

H&R springs are lowering springs so you'll get an even lower ride height with them, plus there are two version of H&R springs: sport and non-sport!

did you adjust the lower spring collar on the sach strut to match the old one? start at 7:34

Yes, the old sachs were on the lowest one, found that out after taking the old one out of the scrap bin, got it done through trial and error. Left a reference photo for the next guy that has this problem.
