Just got my 04 E320 back from service...paperwork says front brake pads at 12mm and rear at 9mm...car has 10,500 miles. Can someone help me translate this too how slow/fast they are wearing? Curious with this info what kind of mileage I can expect on front/rear pads.

Thanks to everyone.

I think it really depends on driver style and driving habits. Overall, the E does not have very good brake pad life in general. Most people have reported changing pads around 15-20k and then new pads and rotors after 30k.

for your given mileage, it sounds like you're doing better than average. it sounds like you should be well past 20K before needing any pads, which is pretty good for an SBC car.

The real question you need to ask is: How thick are the pads when they are new? That will give you an exact idea of what percentage you have used and you could set it in a liner proportion to your current mileage to get an idea of when you will need to replace the pads.

If I remember correctly, not too many pads come with a thickness over 14mm (I could be wrong). So it sounds like you are going to get well over 30k out of the fronts, but the rear are not going to last as long.

Also, you seem to be in the minority since your brakes are not that worn out by 10k. However, your rear pads do seem to be wearing faster than the front which seems to be a pattern in the W211. My car has 4000 miles and the pads are still very thick (this is what I would expect).

Hope this helps,

Steve
