How to read oil temps through elm327
Hey guys,
I’ve got a 2003 Mercedes E200 CDI. I can view the engine oil temperature in DAS under actual values, but I’d really like to monitor it live while driving — on my phone using apps like Car Scanner with a Vgate iCar Pro adapter.
I can already access IAT, coolant temp, MAP, MAF, etc. through OBD, but I haven’t been able to find a working PID for engine oil temp.
How exactly does Xentry/DAS access that value?
Is it calculated internally by the ECU, read directly from a sensor, or coming through a CAN message?
And is there any way to access it using a custom PID, or is it something that only works through DAS/Xentry?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
