Strange tone sound from passenger side wheel well

Hi all,

I’m new here to the forum, and have a strange sound from my 2005 E500. Have it a few shops including the dealer and they haven’t been able to figure it out so hopefully someone here can point me in right direction.

Here’s the issue- randomly when driving we hear a faint tone sound inside the car. For a while we haven’t been able to recreate it but now I think when we press the button to raise and lower the suspension it comes on for a second or 2.. we tried it at idle, kept raising and lowering the car to try and hear where the sound is coming from. I traced it down to behind the passenger side fender. Took the wheel well liner off and I don’t see anything in there. I tried to listen to the sbc and it’s not coming from there and not coming from the strut- also the dealer just replaced the sbc. The front air struts are relatively new and the sound was there before we had them replaced. Sound happens only when the engine is running, regardless if parked or driving. I even pulled off the driver side wheel liner to see if the suspension pump was making the sound but it’s not from there. Really it’s just directly above the wheel well behind the fender on the passenger side. The car has about 60k miles on it. Not sure what it could be but at this point it’s driving me nuts. Anyone here ever had this issue? The tone is similar to like what it sounds like when pressing a button on a phone.
