Need help on identifying parts and their function.

Hey guys. So I came to a stop and stalled, started right up though. Getting some hesitation when going from still to accelerating. So I know there are numerous things that can cause this. One of the things is the idle air control which I am having a hard time researching for this vehicle. (2001 E320). Any way, can anyone tell me what exactly these parts are and what they do? Could they be culprits? Thanks. I can change parts, but do not necessarily know what they are, or do.

That's your secondary air injection. Adds additional air on startup to reduce emissions.
Your car doesn't have idle air control. RPM are controlled by a stepper motor actuated throttle plate.
Check under vacuum leaks in the following link.

https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...Index-W210.htm

Go to charm.li and download the zipped file WIS for your car. Parts search via nemigaparts.com.

Thank you so much for responding. I went to that site and looked up vacuum leaks and it brought up vacuum hoses. Not sure what I am looking for. With what I described happening, do you think that my issue is a vacuum leak somewhere? Egr valve was already replaced

Looks like your running a M112 not an M104.

Air pump check valve's and change over valve.

No codes....you probably only need hoses. (I wouldn't be surprised if you throw a code after you replace the hoses )

So it was pulling a code, on and off again, I forget what the code exactly was, but it was the one for a bad EGR valve. I went ahead and replaced that. No more codes are now in the system, but the car is acting strange. Before I changed the EGR it was idling low when stopped and hesitated when starting to accelerate. When I came to a stop it would sometimes feel like it was gonna stall but it never did. After I changed the ER, no codes, no pending codes. But for the first time it actually did stall only when I stopped and only once. It actually seems to be running a little better,, except for that stall and occasionaly acting the same as it did before I changed the EGR. I am going to change map sensor for the heck of it and a fuel filter, and air filter. But wondering what I am missing here.

Sounds like a vacuum hose, I would do them first. MAP is probably fine (no code).
Watch the video I posted .
Did you clear fuel mixture adaptation values when you cleared the code?

LOL on the video. I already bought the map sensor so what the heck. This car is a 2001 and only had 96,000 miles when I bought it 2 years ago. Starting to see some signs of parts that need to be changed. When I look under the hood and so forth, it is fairly obvious to me that almost all the parts are original. With the exception of oil changes. I am going to do a a full tune up, plugs, wires, coils possibly, etc. A new map sensor can be thrown in cheaply. if it is 23 years old, it is gonna go at some point any way.

As for my original issue, I thought vacuum lines also, but I hate trying to find them all. So I went out though and looked just now. The hose that is going between those two items in my photo that I was asking about.. well I will be darned if there was not a crack and leak in that very hose. It is currently covered in the photo by the red arrow on the right that I put on the photo. I will get some vacuum line tomorrow. I have looked online and so forth for really good diagrams of all the vacuum lines, the size of them, etc. All the diagrams and pictures I have found leave a lot to be desired.
Also, it appears I may be posting in the wrong thread (Again!) This says "E-Class (W211)2003-2009" mine is a 2001!

The Mod can always fix it but same motors were in the w211 also. Well there ya go...already found a cracked 25 year old hose...LOL follow that lady mechanics instructions, she does a good job (IMO). The one you found is very common and so are two tucked up . Post up what you find works to solve the problem.

Thanks for taking your time to help me out. Okay, I must be missing something, I scrolled through this thread, I did not see a lady mechanics. And do you mean two hoses tucked up under where I found that one?

Up on the manifold behind the air pump. About 10min in. You'll need to check all of them.

Different engine, but good explanation of the secondary air system.

Also check the various vacuum rubber hose that connect the two valve covers to the intake valve. Those rubber hoses will crack over time. The rubber actually just dries out and gets hard.

Okay, I will definitely check them, and thanks again. I changed that one hose today I told you about. As well as a new map sensor and air filter. The car s running 100 times better already, but I am going to go through it. Now I have to figure out a problem with one of the headlights lol. Gotta get an inspection this month. Two problems actually. The le light works on high beam but not low beam. I have replaced the bulbs a fe times just to make sure, the second is that the bulb will not seat in the headlight. Something is wrong and it just floats around. I am gonna have to rig something up there. ANy way, thanks so much again.
