Cold start ratteling
Hello, my name is Julian, and I drive a 2009 Mercedes E350 4matic, and it's been having some problems. It started as a rattling noise only on the first start of the day, then a check engine light. I took it to AutoZone and got a bunch of codes saying misfires and to replace coils, plugs, and wires. Since I'm 16 and don't have a ton of money to blow on this car, I decided to check the spark plugs first. The driver's side came out clean, but the passenger side came out soaked in oil. Upon closer inspection, I found that the valve cover gasket was visibly broken. I figured it could be worse because gaskets arent too bad to replace, until I realized it was a silicone-based paste and I had to make the fitting myself. This is where I'm stuck. I NEED HELP FINDING OUT WHAT KIND OF SEALENT I NEED AND HOW TO GO ABOUT SEALING WITHOUT MESSING UP, AND ALSO IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE RATTELING AND MISSFIRES. Obviously, a new valve cover replacement is needed, but more importantly, I need to get to the bottom of the misfires and rattling.
