W211 Front subframe drop and diff reseal question

I’m preparing to drop the front subframe and suspension on my 2008 E350 4MATIC to replace the axles and reseal the front differential.
I’ve been researching 4MATIC front differential removal, but I haven’t found many detailed threads on the job. I suspect it’s a relatively rare repair—either because these units are well built from the factory and usually only require regular fluid changes, or because many cars are scrapped before the front differential ever needs servicing. That said, my car only has 78k miles, and I’d like to keep it on the road, so I’m tackling this job myself.
Has anyone here done this before?
Specifically, I’m wondering if it’s possible to leave the lower control arms attached to the subframe and drop everything as a single unit. I plan to support the engine from the top. I’ll be doing this in my driveway, and while I’ve read about supporting the engine from below with bottle jacks, I’m concerned they’ll be in the way since I’ll be removing the front differential—not just the subframe.
This is the only YouTube video I’ve been able to find showing removal of a W211 4MATIC front differential. While I appreciate it, it’s very short and lacks important details, including how the engine is supported. Still, it’s better than nothing.
For context, I replaced the front axles a few months ago, but unfortunately I went with the cheap Chinese replacements—and, unsurprisingly, they’ve already failed. Lesson learned. I’ve since bitten the bullet and purchased GKN axles. Don’t make the same mistake I did: either reboot OEM axles or go with GKN.
Anyway, for anyone who has dropped the subframe or removed the front differential on these cars, I’d really appreciate any insights or advice you can share.
