2003 E500 Keyless Go Question
Hi Folks -
I have an '03 E500 w/ Keyless Go. From the time I got the car, the keyless go would operate intermittently -- sometimes it would be fine, other times, I would get 'Key not recognized' and I'd have to fumble around with the keys in my pocket to get the key in a position where the keyless go would recognize it. I read that coins may interfere with it, so keep coins in my other pocket, and my keys are in my right pocket (closest to the shift). I've had the dealer check it a number of times - and last time they said it was a bad transmitter in the keys, so they ordered 2 new keys - same problem.
Any thoughts on this? Are people having similar problems or is there something wrong with the keyless go system on my car?

My '03 E55 does the same thing now and then. I can't be sure, but it seems to happen if the key is in the pocket with my cell phone.
I've noticed that if I put the key in the ashtray with my cell phone, that I'll have the same problem.
I also sometimes have problems with the door not unlocking as it should when I try to open the door. Most of time this happens, the key is in the pocket with the cell phone and when I take it out, it works fine.
