CDI in CA

You can not order a CDI from any of the 5 CARB states I TRIED that already.

That was my understanding also....

Green E-300 DT 02-12-2005 02:12 PM

Not Necessarily So.

:)

According to my closet dealer who has an ED specialist, you can order and pay for a CDI for ED.

But when it is shipped to the states, he cannot register it for you here in California.

:)

CDI in Calif

When I was in the process of getting my CDI through ED. I went to 3 dealers in California, they would not order the car. Even if it was delivered and registered out of state. Its not even an option on the computer for them to order this car in the 5 carb states. Besides the delivery dealer gets the credit from MBUSA not the ordering dealer. Even if they could order the car why would they if they did not get the credit for it?

Green E-300 DT 02-14-2005 02:41 AM

Well

:)

All I know is what this knowledgeable type salesman in Escondido told me.
He has done several ED deals and is in fact a German and knows all the right places to go and stay.
Besides the ED savings of 7 percent, he said that they could add or do better than that.

If I recall correctly, Marcus Benz at House of Imports said he could
order one for ED also, but not to be registered in California.

Any dealer anywhere is supposed to be able to order a CDI for ED.
And after you take ED, you can specify any dealer you want to receive the car back here in N A.

I haven't done this myself, so I cannot say that this is in fact true.

:)

AMGFREAK 02-14-2005 03:05 AM

Ok

Well, I tried this with 3 dealers in CA and they ALL said the same thing. I am just going by what I was told and experienced. Surely 3 dealers saying the same thing could not be wrong. Who knows how they make there decisions. So I just went out of state and bought one then drove it to CA and put my dealer plate on it, so the car is in my dealer inventory NO DMV, NO nothing to deal with. All I know is that I ordered the car the I wanted and LOVE driving my CDI here in CA and have never had any problems. Just the lookers when they see its a CDI and want to hear the engine. Its funny how this is the only Mercedes-Benz people want to listen to. Crazy.

I talked with Mark about a diesel ML and he said he wasn't sure how delivery could be handled if I ordered one from him later this year when they are supposed to have one available in the states.

BTW...I am a little disappointed in Marcus_Benz. He failed to respond to three emails while I was involved in negotiating for a E350 wagon during the past 2 weeks. I could not get him to respond to my requests even when I used his ad on this forum. When he answered his cell the last time I spoke with him he answered with "Inventory Manager" so maybe he is no longer active in sales. Regardless, I am no longer in the market for the wagon but his input would have made a difference. I was very pleased with my first sale with him for the 2003.

Perhaps That's Correct.

:)

Have you noticed that he no longer posts here? His posts used to be regular but now, no more. So maybe they got tired of him giving away the store, and demoted him to inventory manager, which must be a clerk type position.

That's too bad, as I enjoyed reading his posts even though some of them may not have been true, evidently.

You had trouble reaching him by phone. My wife and I went there just to deal with him, which is at least a 100 mile R/T for us, and he wouldn't even come out of his office, even though I had told the receptionist twice that we wanted to see him.
After looking at all their stock which was rather limited, and being attacked by all the "greeters" that were on duty, and being told all kinds of stories such as that Marcus wasn't there that day etc. we left.
Later, he emailed me that he had been so busy that he couldn't entertain us, and that he'd sent an assistant out to talk to us, which wasn't true.
Even had he done so, I came there to deal with him, not someone else!
He told me that I didn't have an appointment!
Since when does a buyer need an appointment with a fleet type?

Someone else there told us that "The House" wasn't going to be importing any
used CDIs from other areas, as they had decided that it just wasn't right!
Funny now, there are at least three agencies that are doing so, and making big bucks on them, often
selling used cars from out-of-state for considerably more than their original Maroney (MSRP) stickers.

:)

Yes, I have noticed he is not posting. Well House of Imports will not get any of my business. The only reason I went there is because Mark was an excellent contact, but apparently no more.

That was "rude" not to at least come out and greet you and explain he was busy and he would get somebody else to work with you. I would really like to work with my local dealer and salesman...he is very attentive and goes the extra mile to take care of any problems. I just hope when the time comes to buy my next one (looks like a GST Vision R) we can work a deal.

Marcus Benz recently posted a new flint grey CL65 for sale from House of Imports in that forum section. I sent him an email last week to take him up on his offer in the post that he would be willing to help with any questions from forum users, he read the email but never responded. I guess he is busy. According to his post he is still at House of Imports.

Good to Know

:)

It's good to know that he is still around, and I hope selling and not downgraded to a clerk. :hammer:

My wife keeps her salesmans license active, although she's not doing anything now.

I cannot sell, but she sure can.
I know what makes a good salesperson and what doesn't.

A person that always treats you right and with respect, is polite and attentive and sees to your needs.
But unfortunately, we didn't get that type of treatment at all when we went to the House.
Funny thing is our present ride was originally sold new by the House.
We got it used and Starmark Certified from FJMB, but that another sad story. I'll never deal there again either. Ditto for Penske.

I like Escondido. You get the feeling that you're appreciated there, and just
because you're not buying that day, they don't act all bent out of shape.
When we do get ready to buy, we'll sure go back there.
They're the closest dealership also. Convient what?

Our salesman calls every few weeks just to ask how things are; No pressure mind you, but just a friendly professional reminder that he is still there and of course ready. Always eager to answer any questions, and if he doesn't know, he says so, but always says that he'll try to get the answer.

But I digress . . . :hammer:
