MusFather, maybe you can help me. I have a spot to order an E500 and the dealer says that I need to pick my color this week, along with other options. I see that you have an S500 in Desert Silver, how do you like the color? How is it different from the Smoke Silver that used to be offered? Also do you know what wheels come with the Sport Package, the dealer doesn't have specific info yet.

In my opinion the desert silver is the most beautiful color Mercedes offers. It looks very elegent. It would look awesome if you got an e-class with Desert Silver/Smoke Leather, that would be something. The sport package i believe has 5 spoke 18 inch wheels. I am not sure if they are AMG this time. You know the other pictures you have been seeing of the E-class w/ the big 5 spokes, i am pretty sure those are the wheels with the sport package. But you should also defenitly go for the panorama sunroof if possible. Also get a wood and leather steering wheel if you want that looks very elegant as well. Good look bro!

The new Sport package wheels are AMGs, but according to the E class reservation program on MBUSA the wheels are 17's. Its strange, I have read that the Sport package wheels are 18's.....does anyone know for sure? Guess I will go with the assumption that they are 17's. If thats the case, I think for the $4500 that the Sport package costs; It could at least include 18's for the price. Cars costing $18k now come with 17's.

Those wheels are most beautiful. I wonder if they're the stock wheel for the E320 or the E500? MBUSA is showing them for both models in the Reserve/Build section. They kind of look like Brabus wheels.

Musfather is correct, Desert Silver does look elegant. Someone in my parking lot has a 240 Class in Desert Silver and one has to do a double take to make sure it is not an E Class, or even an S Class.
In California, however, the color is a little bit overdone. I visited a dealer somewhere off I-5 between San Clemente and Irvine and they had over 50 Mercedes on the lot with all but a dozen in desert silver.

I have an E430 in Desert Silver....
In 2000, you didn't see many E-Class in Desert Silver. Now, you see more and more but it's still much less than white, Black or Silver.
It was an headache for me when choosing the color for my E430. Finally, after many days, my son (13 years old) and I decided to order the Desert Silver + java for interior (only option).
Believe or not, I never like that color before..... Now, we like it.
Anyway, I also like the White, black and silver. The White may be is to feminin, the Black is too hard to maintain and also too hot for California, the Silver is nice, classic but looks much better when it's cloudy. California is too sunny.
Again, you need to see it first before you order. It looks nice on the W210, and very very nice on the C. However, not on the ML320 (my opinion) !!!
The 'Designo Silver' looks very very nice, better than the standard Desert Silver. Confused !!! So, good luck.

W211 is going to be a nice looking car on the road, love the wheels, lights and everything, only complaint i have is that now all MB Models look alike, just in thre different sizes with sedan or coupe option.
