2004 E5004Matic Wagon - Command/Nav Problem
Anyway, in December of '03, (during a major cold spell in NYC) most of the of the accessories in the car (heated seats/wheel, telephone, navigation, logic 7 stereo, cd changer, etc.) all refused to work. Then the battery went dead. This promted MB to come out and jump the car...twice. I brought it in for service and explained the issues. They explained there was some bug in the system, did a software upgrade and everything seemed fine. Now Again...in January 2005 a very similar thing is happening. The Navigation system says there is no DVD, the CD changer (with 6 cds in side it) won't go on, the radio goes off and on by itself (once even after I shut the car off and opened the door!), the telephone system won't allow a caller to hear you, the voice command system won't work, ETC!
Has anyone else experienced problems like this and IF SO, WHAT DID YOU DO? I am bringing the car in to MB Manhattan next week and I expect an answer or solution from them on why a $73K car, drives incredibly well, but nothing inside it works!
Thanks.
The 211 is constantly having what Mercedes-Benz call 'upgrades'. These upgrades are to rectify minor faults that are found and are not worthy of a recall.
I dread to think how many there have been since the 211 was introduced, but they are only usually carried out when the vehicle goes into the main dealer for servicing.
I am not saying this is your problem, but it is certainly worthy of consideration.
There is obviously a problem which is best recified by the dealer.
Good luck,
John
Had all your problems however with distronic onboard as an added twist, as Glojo says lots of little submarine fixes.
My problems are still ongoing after many months, July 2003 build vehicle, look at E320cdi fourteen months old and what a pain thread.
Vehicle back in garage for 1 week, 2 days paintwork, 3 days for rectification and MB technical visit.
I wish you luck.
