Buddy of mine who just bought an 05 CL500 called me the other day asking if I knew how to set the stearing wheel to change to presets vs. scanning every radio station. To my knowlegde it cannot be done on my car (04E320). He said that he spoke with the dealer and they told him that 05's do not have this feature any more. He said they told him that MB forgot to program that feature in the 05's. Is this true, and if so is there a computer upgrade to allow this feature to work? I told him that I would find the real truth to that question on this great board that I know of...

The steering wheel next "pre-selected station" VS next receivable station is not user selectable in the W 211s. It will only scan to next available station... it sort of has become a "seek" button.

I have an '03 W211 and the steering wheel can't be set to "presets" instead of "scan." No W211 will select presets, to my knowledge, although the previous E-class (W210) supposedly had that option.

If M-B just "forgot" to program presets into the steering wheel buttons, it's sure taking them a long time to "remember" via a patch. Somebody posted a few months ago that M-B was working on a patch; search under "preset" or "presets" and you may find it.

Yeah thats what I figured because I have never seen the option to make that change.. Ok thanks guys

Changing the COMAND module did not work. It lasted only 2 weeks.

Lame, my 02 C320 let's you choose between seek next station or presets.
