Going for 20 Inch Changed of mind

ok i have posted that i wanted to put 19 inch rims on my 2004 e class but i have been seeing alot of cars lately when i went to LA and they all put 20 inch and they all look good.

I think the airmatic suspension could take care of the pot holes plus i live in the bay so pot holes are not a major problem for me.

Anyway ... i have been thinking of getting rims with deep lips

my choices are

RT5 Maido 20
Fabolous rims

any suggestion on which one i shouild pick or any other rimes?

I want something have like 5 spokes or less ... i dont like many spokes.

Go for it. Have a search for 'Viesel' and look at the pictures of his rims.

Good luck,
John

A cool sunny morning in Torquay

If pothole arent an issue for you then I would recommend 20's. I put 19's on my car and Im from New York and have bent these deep dished rims a bunch of times. 20's would fill the wheel well better. You can check out my pic as to how 19's look, but 20's would have been better.

When you go with 19" or 20"... both are the same. I will prefer going 20"s. Unless you go with 18"s.

Depends on what you want...performance or look.

airmatic has nothing to do with what, if any damage a pothole will cause. You may feel less of a "jolt" if on the softest setting, but the car is still hitting the hole.

yeah that's wht i mean ... the jolts wont be felt that much ... but the pot holes of course are still going to be there hehe ... only i think i could avoid as much pot holes as i could. It's pretty good around here in the bay.

rusnakmb is that 19 or 20? also ... do u put dual tips like full mufflers or just the tips? and is it hard to install and how much is it? and where to get hehe lol sorry bunch of questions

Hi,

I just like that kits, but I did not have them on my car.

I am using 20" Maya STM.

You should go for 20s. If a pot hole is going to bend a 20", it will bend a 19". I have bent the 19" on my W210 several times but I haven't bent my 20" yet even after hitting several big pot holes. It's probably because HRE forged wheels are stronger. IMO, the ride is about the same for 20" and 19". If you want big lips, go with Maya / Maido. rusnakmb's Maya STM wheels got some freaking sick lips. My rear HREs only have lips that are a little more than 3" where rusnakmb's Mayas look like they got 4"+ lips.

I recommend Maya too. I would also recommend you check out www.supremepowerparts.com to order your rims. I bought them from there and they are much cheaper than anywhere else I have found. And they are great to deal with.

So can anyone with 20's and airmatic confirm what type of ride can be expected? Not sure if it's going to be too harsh.

I could feel a big difference between my 17" to my 18" wheels.

That is what scares me about 20's. I just think that 19's are starting to look too small.

Silly question but how do you tell if you bent a rim? It has never happened to me before...

Ride is not too harsh in the comfort mode. It is more comfortable than my W210 w/ 19s and H&R springs. I use Sport 1 most of the time.

That is great, now we can push HRE to come out with 19 1/2's for those of us who are between 19's and 20's.

Your steering wheel would become shakey at higher speeds if the front were to bend. Its really hard to tell about the rears unless they are majorly bent..
