I get a lot of pitting on my windshields since Colorado puts a lot of gravel for traction in snow. This gets lodged in the treads of trucks and cars and then fly off at highway speeds. If the chip is relatively big, you should have it repaired. Otherwise it will be the birth of a crack.
I imagine that since the I95 corridor has gotten a lot of snow recently, it would not be unusual that there is some gravel flying out of the treads of cars.
It is just bad luck that you already got two hits, but it is not unusual that it does happen.

I never drive behind trucks for this reason, and had just deliberately avoided a truck when this one merged on and gave me no chance to avoid.
What sucks is if your windscreen gets nicked in your line of sight (you have to look at it) or if it is sharp, it will cut a groove in your wiper then you get a streak when using wipers!
The only way you can prevent this type of thing is A) don't get out of bed, or B) drive a P.O.S. car. Nice cars attract this kind of damage, and also attract stray shopping carts, etc. Kinda the same set of physics that attracts tornados to trailer parks.

FYI, you really should get these fixed immediately for best results. Also, you don't want to get water in the crack before getting it fixed either.
I personally don't think the glass that MB uses is any more prone to cracking than the average vehicle ( I have an 03 E320 with sports package that uses the blue tinted glass made by PPG).
