Just posted some pic's of the R Class
They are calling it the "Grand Sports Tourer Vision"
It is nice looking although it "looks" considerably smaller then the E Class Wagon. It also has a complete glass roof which is amazing.
There is a sign stating that it will be for sale in Canada in Sept.
Here are some more pics..

The B Class is significantly smaller than the R and since you remarked it looks considerably smaller than the the E Class wagon, it suggests you were looking at the B and not the R. The Vision R specs show it at close to or more than 200" which would make it longer than the E wagon. Also, MB has not released a date for introduction of the R Class yet and since you say it will be available in September, that also suggests you were looking at the B Class which will go on sale in mid 2005, but not in the US.
Can you please clarify which model was on display?

In that press release it states that it is called the, "Compact Sports Tourer" and the pics I put up are called the, "Grand Sports Tourer". Although I have to say, that what I saw looks identical in length to the the Grand Sports. Could this be the same car? Except the Canadian are getting a jump and calling it something else?
Anyone know the lengths of both of these cars?

The Canadians are not getting a jump...:-) The car you described is the B Class (I am sure) and is not the same length as the R Class. It is being officially marketed starting March 1st (except in the US).
The R Class is not ready for a final production release as yet and as stated on the MBUSA site will be available in the Fall of 2005.
Mercedes can add more confusion to a new product than any company I know...:-)
