Thanks for the Pics!
Ugh, just looks so jarringly boxy/angular IMO, and I thought the back was a Camry's at first from the thumbnail pic!
IMO, the W211 to the left of the first ones FTW!!

In the second lot of pictures, the one of the interior, am I correct is spotting a reflection of a coupe? Can you get us pics of some E Coupes please?
Unfortunatley in Australia, we have zero information of what specs we are going to get. I'm so drooling over the E Coupe and want to see as much pics/videos as I can.
Hanging out to rid of my CLK and get into the new E.

I was at the New York Auto show yesterday, where there were three new E sedans and a two door coupe.
The cars were open and people were lined up to sit in them. Interestingly, a woman sitting next to me in the sedan thought that she was sitting in a C class (and she owns a C).
The sedan feels much smaller than the W211. My head hits the headliner. The cabin feels narrower also.
I wanted to like the W212, but now prefer the W211.

The comment on space takes a bit of credibility of your comment, I understand it can be taken as it feels (I have to say I have not felt a noticeable difference either way) but look at the dimensions figures. The trend usually these days is that the interior gets smaller even if the exterior would be larger, because of safety. Like going back to those really old American cars. But this does not seem to happen here.
Taking an example of the driver seat-to-roof space, 1007 in 212 while 993 is given for the w211.

I'd guess maybe it's more illusion based. The car has a much higher beltline and slightly more sloped inward windows toward the top, I always feel a bit more claustrophobic with cars with higher beltlines and smaller windows.
It does harken the W204's interiors, I just hope for its sake the materials are a bit better than that of the W204's....

come on now, u think if there was a COUPE there I wouldnt have taken a pic, lol. Nah its not on the ground yet. they usually drop the sedans first, then probably the E63 will come, with the coupe to follow, but i could be wrong. but once i see it, u no im taking pics, and requesting a test drive!!!

Interesting to see the specs, thank you. I have not seen them published in inches. The W212 is a bigger car, which I hadn't realized, but my head hits the headliner on the W212 and doesn't on the W211, even with the seat fully lowered. The console on the W212 is wider and seats seem narrower, also adding to the smaller feel.

In comparing the dimensions that you have provided, I noticed the following differences between the W211 and the W212 :
The 212 is 50 mm longer overall (2") and its wheelbase is 20 mm longer.
Its height is 21 mm taller and its width is 32 mm greater.
From the external dimensions, the W212 is considerably larger than the W211. Too bad that the W212 has grown in size in all dimensions. For me at least, the W211 is a perfect size, neither too big like the S Class, nor too compact, like the C Class.

All the wheels are butt ugly and too small for the size of the car. If MB would have made bigger and better looking wheels, then this car might look a LOT better.

I understand US owners being after big wheels and usually the US selection from MB is towards bigger wheels compared to the European one. Myself I would have preferred 16 inch wheels instead of the standard 245/45/17 wheels on my car.

The W211 is one of best looking car ever designed by MB, period. It is difficult to top it. That's why MB kept it for so long, 7 years, because the sales were great. When the 211 first came out in 2002 as a 2003 model, it sure turned people heads as I recall when I was driving mine. The W212 is nowhere near the eye-catching design as the 211. As some people commented that the rear looks like a generic Japanese car. The front lights are rather poor evolution of the orginal 4-eye design, which is probably the best looking headlights ever for a sedan.

Put a deposit down last week. All the dealer could take was body, top and interior colours. Soft top, not retractable hardtop. No pricing available yet. Estimated arrival: June 2010

Lots of pros and cons .... cons seem to get more weight though. I think the correct answer would be "WE WILL SEE." I am hoping W212 will be better on the street.
