new E class
Ugh, just looks so jarringly boxy/angular IMO, and I thought the back was a Camry's at first from the thumbnail pic!

IMO, the W211 to the left of the first ones FTW!!
Unfortunatley in Australia, we have zero information of what specs we are going to get. I'm so drooling over the E Coupe and want to see as much pics/videos as I can.
Hanging out to rid of my CLK and get into the new E.

The cars were open and people were lined up to sit in them. Interestingly, a woman sitting next to me in the sedan thought that she was sitting in a C class (and she owns a C).
The sedan feels much smaller than the W211. My head hits the headliner. The cabin feels narrower also.
I wanted to like the W212, but now prefer the W211.

The comment on space takes a bit of credibility of your comment, I understand it can be taken as it feels (I have to say I have not felt a noticeable difference either way) but look at the dimensions figures. The trend usually these days is that the interior gets smaller even if the exterior would be larger, because of safety. Like going back to those really old American cars. But this does not seem to happen here.
Taking an example of the driver seat-to-roof space, 1007 in 212 while 993 is given for the w211.

It does harken the W204's interiors, I just hope for its sake the materials are a bit better than that of the W204's....

In comparing the dimensions that you have provided, I noticed the following differences between the W211 and the W212 :
The 212 is 50 mm longer overall (2") and its wheelbase is 20 mm longer.
Its height is 21 mm taller and its width is 32 mm greater.
From the external dimensions, the W212 is considerably larger than the W211. Too bad that the W212 has grown in size in all dimensions. For me at least, the W211 is a perfect size, neither too big like the S Class, nor too compact, like the C Class.

I understand US owners being after big wheels and usually the US selection from MB is towards bigger wheels compared to the European one. Myself I would have preferred 16 inch wheels instead of the standard 245/45/17 wheels on my car.
