E Class Coupe thread
While i'm here, does anyone know for sure if the Coupe has ambient lighting like the sedan? I really like the look of it. BMW has it in the 3 series Coupe -- adds sophistication IMO.
Can't wait till they release Austratlian specs and pricing.

)? Interesting to see where the 207 would be placed. You can browse the on-line manual to see what the car would have (as options or standard). The manual does not have a setting for the ambient lights, would that mean it does not have the ambient lights option?

Better check yourself, I may have missed the feature.

Yeah I've been searching all over and same as you can't' find ambient lights option. The W212 manual has it though. The C207 overhead lights look similar to what's in the current E and CLS though -- wonder if it's incorporated there rather than under trim.
I may be sorely disappointed... boohoohoo.

Interesting to see how it actually appears in the car.

This car had very much the same kind of aluminium panels as our W204 has, definitely without ambient lights. But of course it could just be a missing option from this particular car.

I think i may have to resign to the fact that there will be no ambient lighting. Bummer.

I would have a look at (e.g.) the German price list and see if they have the ambient light option. If it isn't an option, then it isn't available as it obviously isn't standard.

Thanks for checking it out for me too.
What's the pricing like compared to current CLK?
Still waiting for local dealers to release price lists and specs.
I read in local reviews that they are releasing the E350 and E500 first in Australia. Apparently the E350 is the non CGI model.
From all european reviews, there doesn't seem to be any "old" E350 engine specs... all have CGI. Wonder if Australia is getting the leftover engines. Hmmmmmm. I think I would like to wait for the CGI or E350CDI (probably won't get it till towards the end of the year).
Off to bed for me now. Enough lusting after the car .... for tonight.
Thanks D-Benz.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
So I just wanted to post this here to get your thoughts on my post on the existence and comparisons of the new "CLK":
http://www.leftlanenews.com/mercedes...comment-450763
many people were confused as to we are comparing an E-class coupe with the 3-series, etc.
So I had posted:
Let me explain:
* The BMW 3 series sedan is a direct competitor to the M-B C-class sedan.
* So, the M3 sedan is a direct competitor to the C63 AMG sedan.
* However, the 3-series coupe/convertible is more in proportion to the CLK coupe/convertible
* The previous generation C-Class coupe (now the CLC, which is not US-bound) was never a good alternative to the 3-series (midsize) coupe, and doesn’t really match the 1-series (compact) coupe either
* The next generation CLK coupe will be called the E-class coupe
* It’s still a mid-size coupe, just as the 3-series coupe is
* The 3-series coupe is more of a midsize than a compact coupe, even though the 3-series sedan is considered a compact sedan
* The BMW 6-series (and the M6) is more of a full-size coupe/convertible
* It is more in proportion to the M-B CL coupe and the M-B SL hardtop convertible
* The 2008 AMG models are sitting in lots unsold
* There is no market for a steady stream of new CLK AMG models
* M-B has no choice but to cut back on new E-Class Coupe AMG models
* They are not offering the CLS as a viable alternative to the M3
* They just don’t want to cannibalize their own sales, and don’t want to kill the CLS either
* So they are just offering the next best thing (in their eyes)
* There are still some people who are in the market for the CLK AMG models
* They will either get a pre-2010 CLK63 AMG or switch over to the M3 if that’s what they want
